I get occasional reels from Eli McCann and enjoy his humor and am always curious about his lifestyle as a former Mormon, gay married father, with an extended family who loves him and accepts him. He's been posting about this book and how proud he is of it, and I was curious about it. I knew it was about Utah women quilters, and loosely based on his mother's quilting group. But I was reluctant to purchase it. Low and behold, it showed up at the gym in the giveaway box! I snatched it up!
And...it is very disappointing. The dialogue is meh, the characters are meh, the plot unbelievable, just all around MEH. I kept reading thinking, hoping it would get better it did not. This is not Eli's genre! Back to the gym it goes...
I will now, again, give myself permission to stop reading when a book is BAD. Yet, I seem to keep doing it! Ah, well...NO MORE!!!
